Dale Breckenridge Carnegie
Before
I proceed to post a Biography about Dale Breckenridge
Carnegie and a review of his books, hereafter referred to simply as Dale Carnegie,
I would like to quote a few lines, a part of which appear in his Best
selling Book “How To Stop Worrying and Start Living”, which changed the
very course of my thinking and way to living life.
I
will speak more about this book later, but for now the famous lines I
quote unfortunately whose writer is anonymous. The other reason that
prompts me to take up this Writer, Lecturer, and phenomenal personality
as my premiere post
on this Blog is the fact the wonderful Institution Dale Carnegie
Training runs its Centennial Year in 2012. They have had a phenomenal
performance from 1912 – 2012, about which I will say later.
This is even
more reason for me to select this Author/Writer legend as my Premiere
Post on this Blog is my own personal experience which I will quickly
mention below.
My Personal
Experience: Before I conclude I would like to put in a few words of my
own experience with one of his best books - "How to Stop Worrying and
Start Living" . As it is rightly put up - Learn how to break the worry
habit -- Now and forever! - A few years ago (Well a few decades ago )
during my college days, I was going through a lot of stress, mainly due
to getting used to the new atmosphere, challenges, and hectic schedule
of my College education.
Time was short, I was going through a rough
patch both on family fronts as well as financially, and add to it the
pressure of performance at studies. That is when a Friend presented me
this wonderful book as a Birthday present!
Something
drew me to the book like a Magnet. As I had a liking for reading I took
up the book and soaked every bit of it into myself like a sponge would
to water. I even made small notes of the quotes that appear on the pages
in between each chapter, and carried it in a small pocket diary like a
reference!Believe me that book changed my life and the very way I had to
look at life and be successful.
I could keep writing about this
experience, but would suffice to say it still remains as my "Bible" for
success and I have continued the legacy of gifting this Book to anyone
who is due for one on a Birthday! It has remained in my life my biggest
and best Birthday Gift!
I can only say that you need to read this book
to believe what I have to say! Here
are those wonderful lines which keep motivating me always! For some
reason these lines for me have become synonymous with Dale Carnegie.
When things go wrong!
When things go wrong!
“When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high.
And you want to smile but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest if you must but never quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about.
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out.
Stick to your task though the pace seems slow.
You may succeed with one more blow.
Success is failure turned inside out.
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems far,
so stick to the fight when you are hardest hit.
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."
